New Year, new adventures! Happy New Year! I am so excited for everything that 2017 will bring, or rather what I can bring about for myself. Funnily, William Shakespeare who wrote with a heavy influence in astrology (i.e. star-crossed lovers) also once wrote, "It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves." Some fun projects are already shaping up the New Year. What are you doing in this new year? Once again, I am joining Innovative Arts for their production of "Into the Woods". I was helping out with auditions back in December and again a few weeks ago and can confidently say that there are lots of talented kids ready to tackle this challenging show. Have a look at the faculty page to see some familiar faces: https://www.innovativearts.com/about-the-company.html I was lucky enough to experience the INCREDIBLE "Hamilton the Musical" on Broadway. It was an unforgettable experience, The entire production was breathtaking. In particular, I loved the ensemble work and choreography; things that unfortunately are missed on the soundtrack. The Alexander Hamilton alternate went on for that Thursday night show and he was stellar. He was such a focused and powerful performer who commanded the stage. Turns out he will be playing Hamilton on the National Tour! He's also the first actor to understudy both Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. So thankful I was "in the room where it happened". Although I was in NYC for only 12 hours, it was well worth it. January is definitely a good time to go as it is far less crowded, if you can brave the cold. Can't wait to be back in the Big Apple! Perhaps the next time I won't take the 12 hour bus. Looking forward to what is next!
