Oh My Gosh!! Legally Blonde at Innovative Arts! This past week I was a part of Innovative Arts' teacher conference for Legally Blonde. I'm one of the Cast Directors and am helping out with teaching the choreography. It's been so much fun working on this show again and getting to work with this amazing artistic team! (There was even a reunion with some of my cast mates from Theatre Aquarius' Miss Saigon production.) Innovative Arts has been offering a truly unique experience to theatre students in the Mississauga/Oakville area for the past 4 years. It was founded by Nathan and Sophie McLeod and is such a positive learning enviroment! The way it works out is that it's a completely new teaching experience for me as well, in the span of one week I work with over 170 kids. With 12 casts learning the show, each student is able to get more individual attention from the directors and consequently in such small casts, more stage time. I'm so excited to be working on this show for the next 3 months! For more information check out www.innovativearts.ca Helping these kids realize their full potential as performers is extremely rewarding. Today I taught some of the "What You Want" choreography and they are already looking fantastic. I can't wait to see how the show comes together in the next few months with all of the blocking and choreography. I had a fantastic first day of teaching and I can't wait for the next rehearsal! Also, one of the boys came up to me with the pamphlet that had the staff bios and head shots, he pointed to mine and said, "You have an AMAAAZING head shot". He was so honest and confident, it brought a smile to my face. He'll probably never truly understand how much his small comment affected the rest of my evening. Thanks kid! Here's a photo from Theatre Sheridan's production of Legally Blonde which I was in last year. (centre right as Margot)

It couldn't get more real than this. I am trying to stay away from unhappy thoughts for weeks now but I kept getting lost in unwanted directions. It seems I get sick by the day. Lately I reminded myself that music had an innate power of its own to heal us. We just need to listen to something we like because if music had the power to heal, it can also destroy us. We have to be very careful what we listen to. Actually the body should be able to heal itself. Music is just clearing away anything which might block the path of this healing process.
